Fair play to Donal for staying around and making it to 130 matches in the green and gold.
As many have said he'd get his place on any of the great teams and was wrongly overlooked for all stars on 2 separate occasions and he was robbed in 2019. In this posters humble "opinion" Donal is without doubt the best player Meath have had in the past 12 years and it's not even close. I'd go as far to say as he's the best player to play in green and gold i the 2000's. Consistently outstanding and takes the team on his back, drives standards and it's a pity we've no one who has even come close to his standards during his time. If we'd 15 Donal Keoghan's we'd be division 1 and more. He deserves better than the period of time he's played with Meath. When he's gone were in serious trouble and that can't be under estimated.

One of the best defenders Meath have produced, overall he played with average teams, with little chance of silverware. So even more credit for sticking with the team for so long. Would love to have seen him play with the 96 team, their style would have suited him perfectly and surrounded by great players/manager he could have reached his full potential. Just wishful thinking and county teams all over the country have lads who never got the recognition they deserved.
