I know with Covid, matches need to finish with a result. Surely, the minimum the players can expect is light. (I know it affects both teams). Starting a semifinal at 7.15pm just doesn't work. A junior Hurling semifinal went to penalties, after a period of extra time. The first penalty was taken at 9.12pm. Even on a clear night, it is officially Twilight at 9pm! We lose over 3 minutes of light per day. Tonight *August 11th* Twilight will start at 9.04pm.The players from both teams deserve better than this. For the sake of fairness, I hope we don't see this again. Stiofan (Meath) - Posts: 67 - 11/08/2021 10:39:56 2369742 Link 0 |
Great point! Was at a Minor semi final last night that started at 7.15pm. With the water breaks, half time and a few injuries and then injury time the game finished close to 9 - It wasn't a bad night but visibility wasn't great near the end - I don't think it would have been safe to play extra time if it had been needed!!
