So the county board had deferred the club fees from March and April but are now asking for them at the end of May and June - as per the letter sent to clubs on the 8th of May.
This is surely terrible PR and terrible timing. Clubs are on their knees, covering overheads with zero fundraising abilities and having no idea when they will be able to open their doors again.
Ultimately the clubs will be forced to put pressure on members to foot the bill to the CB. Members who are out of work, have had to postpone mortage repayments and are wondering how they will pay their bills week to week.
There are no competitions running, the insurance scheme has been postponed and yet the CB want the clubs to pay up now. Where will the funds go? Have the CB not applied for a break on any loan repayments for Dunganny or the new PT development?
This is outrageous. The last thing players and other members want to recieve is an email or a text from their club secretary for them to pay up when so many other things have taken precedence.
The letter sent on the 8th of May to clubs was not good timing and not at all well thought out.

Surely the fees or a large part thereof, that the County Board are looking for are fees that clubs pay to participate in the various leagues and championships. Now the million dollar question is, will there be a championship? If not fees will surely have to be refunded. So why charge until they know for certain that the competitions are proceeding?

If there are no leagues and chamionships, which is by far the most likely outcome at this stage surely fees would be waived. However, this does not seem to be the case. I understand the county board has a lot of debt and the clubs have shouldered this consistently over the years but this is a step too far. There are no fundraisers, there are no club lottos etc.
Give the players a break, paying the 150 odd euro membership at this time is the last thing they need to be worrying about at this time. The CB really need to look at what they have asked clubs to do.
