Awards: Senior Club Footballer of the Year
December 13, 2012

Navan O'Mahony's Niall McKeigue - hoganstand.com/meath senior club player of the year.
It is that time of the year again when we take stock of all that has gone on in the mad world that is the Meath GAA scene. If you want high and lows, the crazy to the simply jaw dropping amazing, then our fine county is the place to be.
With the season finished (well, nearly) we will spend the next couple of weeks naming out hoganstand.com Meath award winners.
We start today with the best senior club footballer in 2012.
David Morgan (Donaghmore/Ashbourne) and the Wolfe Tones trio of Stephen Corrigan, Stephen Sheppard and Cian Ward caught the eye at various stages of this year's Meath SFC but you can't look beyond champions Navan O'Mahonys who have a number of contenders in this category.
The likes of captain Marcus Brennan, Stephen O'Toole, Shane Crosby, Paddy Smyth and Stephen Bray all impressed en route to the club's 18th SFC success.
It is the Brews Hill side's full-back Niall McKeigue, however, who gets the nod as he was their most consistent performer during the knock-out stages of the Keegan Cup race.
He popped up at the opposite end of the field to score a crucial goal in the quarter-final derby win over Simonstown and proved to be the rock on which a large quantity of opposition attacks perished.
It's debatable if O'Mahonys would have got their hands on the silverware were it not for the outstanding displays of the former county defender.
Tomorrow we will name our Minor Footballer of the Year
