St Anne’s NS, Navan 3-8 St Stephen’s NS, Navan 2-7
St Anne’s had to withstand a spirited second-half fightback from St Stephen’s to get their hands on the Division 2/3 Shield in the fourth game of the day at St Loman’s Park, Trim.
With Harvey Cahill dominating, the winners led 1-6 to 0-1 at the break. The talented number ten accounted for 1-3 of that first-half tally, while Cian Dunphy (2) and James Regan also got in on the scoring act.
A Dunphy point and 1-1 from Cahill early in the second half put St Anne’s firmly in control, but from there on St Stephen’s fought back.
Points from Noah O’Brien (2) and Daniel Laird, along with a goal from Reuben Farrell, narrowed the gap.
Cahill gave the winners some more breathing space with his third goal, but St Stephen’s refused to give up. The impressive O’Brien added 1-3 before the final whistle as St Anne’s held on to claim the shield.
After the game, Máire Ní Ghealbháin presented the Division 2/3 Shield to James Regan and David McLoughlin.
