Drumree 5-8 Navan O’Mahony’s 1-9
Drumree claimed the Under 16 Division 3 cup title at the expense of Navan O’Mahony’s in this very entertaining Under 16 Division 3 cup final played in perfect conditions under lights at Skryne.
The winners got a great start with points from Cian O’Donnell, Shane Curley and Bobby Collins and by the end of the first quarter the impressive O’Donnell raised two green flags to give his side a 2-3 to 0-1 lead.
The accuracy of Aidan Tolster was keeping O’Mahony’s in the game but they fell further behind when Rian Wall’s 65 made it all the way to their net. Christopher McEntagart and Collins added points before Curley was in for goal number 4 and Drumree led 4-5 to 0-4. An Oisin Breathnach goal and a Fionn Porter point just before the break gave the Navan side some hope going in to the second half.
Tolster narrowed that gap with a brace of pointed frees early in the second half. Curley, Wall and Collins kept the scoreboard ticking for the winners and when Collins long range effort, with five minutes remaining, ended up in the O’Mahony’s net the silverware was heading home with the red & white.
After the game Joe O’Brien presented the cup to Thomas McEntagart.
