O’Mahony’s produced a strong to secure a nine-point victory over Blackhall Gaels, with an impressive attacking display helping secure Senior B status for 2027.

O’Mahony’s made the ideal start, opening the scoring with a goal from Eoghan McDermott from the throw-in. Blackhall responded with a point, but O’Mahony’s settled quickly and began to take control.

Jack Walsh opened his account with a point from play before Blackhall added another. Walsh then converted a free, before further points from Blackhall and Paddy Dillon kept the scoreboard moving.

Walsh was proving a constant threat from placed balls, adding another free before Blackhall registered their fourth point of the evening. O’Mahony’s responded with a fine spell of scoring.

Walsh added another point from play after a good run, followed by scores from Tom Condon and Lorcan McDermott, as O’Mahony’s began to establish a clear advantage. Blackhall did manage to get another score, but Jack Flynn had the final say before the break with a well-taken point, having been set up by Colm O’Toole.

Blackhall came out strongly after the interval and added two quick points to reduce the deficit, but O’Mahony’s remained composed. Dillon got his second point of the match to settle his side before Walsh converted another free.

A crucial second goal came when McDermott found the net for the second time, extending the O’Mahony’s lead and putting the home side firmly in control. This was started with a good-sideline from Seb Snow to Condon, who hit the upright before McDermott won the rebound.

Blackhall continued to battle and were rewarded with a goal midway through the second half, giving them a boost. However, O’Mahony’s responded immediately through another Walsh free, before Condon added his second point from play when Flynn fought hard to dispossess a Blackhall player.

The visitors continued to work hard, but O’Mahony’s defence, led by Cormac Keyes, Mark Usher and Ben McEntagart, held firm and managed the game well in the closing stages when Blackhall had no choice but to chase goals. Walsh added another free with just minutes remaining to complete an impressive performance.
