Round 3 of the Senior B camogie championship saw O’Mahonys welcome the 2025 Intermediate champions Dunboyne to the well-presented Trim Road grounds. The home side were keen to build on the momentum garnered in their second-round win over Kildalkey and showed their intent with a fast start against the girls in black and amber.  A clever short free from Izzy Kinsella put the lively Lauren Woods into space for an early score. This was soon followed by good points from Isabel O’Connor, Jorja Keogh and Cara Ratty who was unerring from both placed balls and play throughout the 60 minutes.  Dunboyne had their moments and several long deliveries from their half back line turned the O’Mahonys full back line towards their own goal. They were rewarded with two goals as the home side’s defence failed to deal adequately with balls that they would have hoped to clear. At the other end Ratty responded well with a goal of her own having reacted quickest to follow in on a save by the Dunboyne net minder.

With a slight wind in their favour for the second half, O’Mahonys went about adding to their tally. They hit 3 excellent points from play in a five-minute burst, showcasing some fine interplay between their forwards. The midfield pairing of Annie Hogan and Lauren Donegan were industrious and ensured a steady supply of ball into their forwards while in defence , the backline showed excellent composure to recover from the couple of shaky moments of the first half to produce a much more commanding display after the break.  Dunboyne to their credit never dropped their heads and continued working hard right until the final whistle, making sure that any possession that the Navan girls got was hard earned. For the visitors, Clodagh Maher in particular stood out in defence with several brilliant pieces of one-on-one defending. Both Tara Watters and Hayley Watters showed flashes of their quality in the forward line.  However, there was no way back on the scoreboard as Isabel O’Connor added to her tally with a goal from the left wing and Cara Ratty continued where she left off in the first half with several well struck points.  

Focus now turns to Round 4 when O’Mahonys will host Boardsmill with both teams looking to secure one of the coveted semi-final spots.
