Ballinabrackey 2-15 Seneschalstown 2-13

Both teams entered this Senior Football Championship Group C round 2 clash at Lomans Park Trim needing a win. Ballinabrackey lost heavily to Wolfe Tones and Seneeschalstown were unlucky against St. Colmcilles in their round 1 fixtures.

Eamonn Finnegan got the scoreboard working for Seneschalstown before Ballinabrackey hit back. Sean Kavanagh opened their account before the impressive Adam O’Brien raised a green flag. From there on the team in green and yellow dominated. Points from Mark and Richie Coffey, Kavanagh again and Danny Quinn followed before O’Brien was in for the Offaly border outfit’s second goal. Ciaran Giblin’s men took a commanding 2-6 to 0-3 lead to the dressing room.

Seneschalstown came out a different team in the second half and by the 15th minute the sides were level 2-7 to 1-10. Midfielder Darren O’Brien gave them the perfect start with a great goal. Cian Commons kicked three points before Dylan Keating and Robbie Finnegan landed two two-pointers to tie up the game.

Commons gave Seneschalstown the lead and the Bracks looked deflated. Simon Finn reignited their challenge with a wonderful two pointer. Smullen added his second and Damien Carroll put them three in front with ten minutes remaining.

Could Seneschalstown respond? Mulvanny answered that with his teams second goal. Cathal Finnegan and Colin Scanlon added points and David Hosie's men were one up with injury time looming. Ballinabrackey refused to surrender. The outstanding Gavin Quinn levelled matters and veterans Carroll and substitute Chris O’Connor raised white flags to bring this thrilling game to a finish.

Next up for the winners are St. Colmcilles with a knock out place up for grabs, while Seneschalstown are headed for the relegation playoffs.
