Moynalty 2-12 St Ultans 0-11

Moynalty produced a strong and composed performance to come away with a convincing 2-12 to 0-11 victory over St Ultans.

Moynalty started brightly and took control of the game early on. St Ultans opened the scoring after four minutes, but Moynalty responded almost immediately, with Eanna Bennett finding the back of the net in the 9th minute. Bennett struck again just two minutes later to give Moynalty a strong early advantage.

Conor O’Reilly added a point before St Ultans responded with a score of their own. Moynalty then hit a purple patch, with Jude Gilsenan showing excellent accuracy to register three points in as many minutes. St Ultans added two further scores, including a two-pointer on the stroke of half-time, but Moynalty went into the break in a commanding position, leading 2-05 to 0-05.

St Ultans came out with renewed purpose after the interval and reduced the deficit with an early point. Moynalty remained composed, however, with Eanna Bennett and Jude Gilsenan adding to the scoreboard.

St Ultans continued to battle and added a number of scores from the boot of Gary Rogers, but Moynalty kept their opponents at arm’s length. Cillian Gaynor and Cathal Donoghue both converted absolute boomer two-pointers during an important spell in the second half, while the impressive Bennett added another point in the closing stages.

James Lynch rounded off the scoring for Moynalty with a point in the 30th minute as the final whistle confirmed a well-earned win.
