Kiltale 1-19 Ratoath 1-17
After a disappointing display against Kilmessan in round 2, Kiltale bounced back to defeat three in a row chasing Ratoath and remain in contention for a place in the knockout stages of the Meath SHC.
For the neutral supporter this game was going to plan at the half way stage. Ratoath were in control for most of the opening 30. With five minutes remaining they led 0-8 to 0-7 but a Diathi McGown goal put daylight between the teams. The holders finished the half with points from Sean O’Hanrahan, Daithi McGowan and Gavin McGowan to go in at the break 1-11 to 0-8 in front.
Kiltale came out a different force in the second half. The O’Sullivan’s Hughie and Mark began to dominate. By the end of the third quarter John O’Donoghue’s men had the lead down to one, 1-13 to 0-15. Gavin McGowan extended that to two before Jack Regan blasted a close in free to the Ratoath net and give his side the lead. Podge O’Hanrahan levelled matters with five minutes remaining but Kiltale were not to be denied. Late points from The O’Sullivan’s, Regan and Conor Ryan made sure of the win.
Trim are up next for the winners while Ratoath turn their attention to Kildalkey in round 4.
