Kilskyre Moylagh 2-24 Dunderry 0-11

Kilskyre Moylagh kept their Senior B Hurling Championship campaign in perfect shape with a comprehensive victory over Dunderry at Grangegodden, making it two wins from two and sending a clear message to the rest of the field.

Dunderry started well, opening the scoring inside 30 seconds, but Kilskyre Moylagh responded immediately. Five unanswered scores followed — all from play — including a goal following a darting run from Darren O’Higgins and a snapshot at goal that was blocked by keeper Jack Fagan only for the follow up to be batted in by McGrath.

Dunderry showed spirit with two well-worked points around the ten-minute mark, but Kilskyre Moylagh had too much in hand. They led 1-09 to 0-05 at the interval, a cushion that owed as much to their work rate and pressing as it did to their scoring threat.

Dunderry opened the second half with another early score, but the pattern of the first soon repeated itself. Tom Shine, picking off one of his trademark angled points, sparked a productive spell that saw McGrath, O'Higgins, Michael Geraghty, and substitute James Cooke all add to the tally. With the lead stretching to eleven points entering the final quarter, the momentum was all with Kilskyre Moylagh.

Dunderry, without the influence of their key forward Mark Leavy from the off, struggled to mount any sustained threat, and their cause was further hampered by a number of significant injuries late on. Kilskyre Moylagh showed no mercy, with Paul Hennessy, Daire Shine, and Fergal Flynn tagging on fine points before Cooke finished the afternoon's work with a well-taken individual goal.

Two games, two wins. The intent and hunger Kilskyre Moylagh brought from the first whistle was evident throughout. There was no standout performance but a standout team effort. Stiffer tests to come.
