Navan O’Mahony’s got their Senior B HC campaign back on track with a win over Killyon. The Brews Hill men showed great fight on the green grass of Pitch 6 in Dunganny and were duly rewarded with the two points on offer.

After a lightning start, O’Mahony’s had three points on the board after two minutes with Jack Walsh converting a free and Jack Flynn and Paddy Dillon splitting the posts from play. Killyon’s first score came from a free in the fifth minute. An impressive run from Flynn ended with a goal after Tom Condon picked him out well with a pass in the tenth minute. Killian Murphy followed up with a point almost immediately after winning John Foley’s puckout.

Eight points separated the sides after the first quarter, when Killyon scored their second point. The tenacious work-rate of Max Condon, Ben McEntagart, Evan Brady and Eoghan Nugent were key in preventing Killyon scores. Two minutes later, points from Walsh extended the lead to ten. Killyon tagged on a few scores with a shot on goal denied by a Foley clearance. Lorcan McDermott hit two points in the final five minutes, having been set up by Condon, to add his name to the scoresheet and to leave ten between the sides at half time.

Dermot McKenna entered the play for Dillon in the second half and proved difficult for Killyon to deal with. Scores were less free flowing in this half, with twelve minutes passed before a flag was raised, albeit after a stoppage due to an injury. 

Twelve points separated the sides when Killyon clawed their way back into contention with a goal. Two minutes later, Killyon went for a goal from a twenty-yard free but was denied by a Foley block. This proved a key period in the match, with McEntagart, Condon and Darragh Connell making clearances when Killyon were in dangerous positions.

Killyon hit the next three scores and the gap was reduced to six points with ten minutes on the clock. A key score came in the fifty-fifth minute when Walsh caught a Foley puckout and was dragged to the ground, converting the resulting free. With Killyon chasing goals, a clearance from Connell and a textbook block from McEntagart in injury time left O’Mahony’s as seven point winners
