Dunderry 2-18  Blackhall Gaels 0-15

Timber Leavy brought his charges to Ratoath on a lovley cool and sunny evening for this first round clash.

With the first two plays the black and whites were 1-1 up thanks to a lovley point on the run from Mark Leavy from the throw in and a well finished goal by recently returned older brother Jamie who received a perfect pass from Harry Crinion. 

Two frees and a 65 from Blackhall hauled that early lead back before Dunderry hit four unanswered points.

The first off Crinion after Ó Laoire was fouled while clearing his lines and Mark Leavy delivered the free into his hand.

Leavy and Barron popped over a brace before Leavy pointed another free to put five between the sides. 

Two frees for Blackhall were next before Barron ran the advantage and pointed off his left. Blackhall responded yet again first from play then a free. Mark Leavy struck over another free on the stroke of half time and the score board had it 1-7 to 0-7.

The second half started with a big turn over in the middle of the field and Leavy extended the lead from the free.

Blackhall weren't going away however and reduced the lead to one with a brace of frees and a fine point from play. 

A 70 yrd free was punched over by Evan Nolan (who wasn't due to start due to injury but really stood up when Kelly was ruled out) found himself beside the action and Mark Leavy was the other end of the pitch.

Blackhall hit back from play. Rian Fay cleared his lines yet again and delivered into his neighbour Leavy who pointed.  Leavy was provider next to Nolan before he pointed a free himself to leave four the difference.  

Blackhall struck a free before Crinion and Leavy combined and the latter pointed superbly.

Dunderry's lead was down to two after a couple of well taken points but they were cancelled out when Leavy and Nolan interlinked- the latter rattling the net brilliantly. 

The Blackhall challenge was diminishing at this stage and had to settle for a point from a placed ball.

Mark Leavy drilled over a free and followed that with one from play and Dunderry were finally starting to hurl. Crinion was involved yet again and got to sliothar to a man in a better position who happened to be Evan Nolan who pointed just before the final whistle for a 2-18 to 0-15 win. 

Shout out to the county board who had a full compliment of officials on the day.
