
Donaghmore Ashbourne 4-17 Carnlough Gaels 4-5
Donaghmore Ashbourne claimed the Meath Minor Football League Premier title with 12 points to spare over Carnlough Gaels in perfect conditions at Grangegodden.
The winners led at the first water break 1-4 to 1-1. Ronan Adams opened their account and soon after Joe Concannon was in for their first goal. Carnlough responded with a goal through Evan Connell as the Moors took a three point advantage to the first break.
The team in Green & White were rocked by a second Carnlough goal on the 20th minute courtesy of Cathal Moore but they responded in style with fine points from Dylan Pentony, Finn Moore, Liam Tuohy and Concannon before Callum Kelly put delight between the teams with a goal before the short whistle. Donaghmore Ashbourne led 2-8 to 2-2 at half time.
By the second water break Donaghmore Ashbourne were well on the road to victory and led 3-12 to 2-4. Two quick fire goals from Aaron Rothwell and Sean McDonnell gave Carnlough some hope with ten minutes remaining but Donaghmore Ashbourne closed out the game when Cillian Brady got in for his second goal.
After the game Enda Lydon presented the cup to Conor Jones.
