MFL Div 4 final: Two pointers key as Clonard cruise to title

July 16, 2026

Clonard's Charlie O'Donnell is under pressure from Glen Callaghan and Kamiye Allen Taylor during the MFL Division 4 final at Sean Newman Park.

Clonard 2-28
Duleek Bellewstown 2-14

An impressive Clonard minor side were too good for Duleek Bellewstown in the Division 4 FL final played at Sean Newman Park on Wednesday evening.

Duleek Bellewstown were the better team in the opening ten minutes and led 1-4 to 0-4, their goal coming from Jack O’Connor. Backed by the impressive midfield pairing of Ryan Scott and Cian Campbell, Clonard began to grow into the game and by the water break they were 0-8 to 1-4 in front, Campbell with a two pointer and fine efforts from Bradley Begley and Jack Lynch.

A long-range effort from Campbell after the break ended up in the net. Clonard began to dominate all over the park. Kayden Plunkett landed his second two pointer along with two singles and the eventual winners went to the half time huddle 1-14 to 1-6 in front.

The team in Blue and Gold were well out of sight by the second water break outscoring the opposition 0-8 to 0-2, that tally included two pointers from Campbell and Plunkett. To their credit Duleek Bellewstown never stopped trying. Jamie Hunt (2), Darragh Touhy and Daniel O’Connor raised white flags after the break without reply.

Any hopes of a comeback were crushed in the last eight minutes. Charlie O’Donnell, Begley and Campbell pointed before Plunkett closed out the game with his team’s second goal. Sean Armstrong closed the scoring with a fine individual goal for Duleek.

After the game Enda Lydon presented the cup to Kayden Plunkett.
