Gaeil Colmcille 1-12 Summerhill 0-20
In what we now know will be a dress rehearsal for the Semi Final, Gaeil Colmcille and Summerhill met in the final round of the A League Division 1 at Grangegodden.
Both sides traded two pointers to open the scoring with Evan Sheridan accounting for Kells in the second minute. Gaeil Colmcille struck for two points in a row with Andrew Gormley pointing and Daniel Farrelly popping over one after a lovely dummy hop beat the Summerhill defender.
Kells then were awarded a penalty in the 9th minute after Evan Sheridan was fouled and Ajay Tormey made no mistake to give The Gaeils a five point lead 1-04 to 0-02. The Hill were level by the 18th minute after rattling off four scores in a row including a second two pointer to see them draw level at 0-07 to 1-04.
Two further points from Gormley restored Kells lead but a two pointer from Summerhill saw the teams all square once again. Summerhill took the lead for the first time in the 29th minute but a Seamus Mattimoe point meant the teams were tied at the half time break 1-07 to 0-10.
Similar to the first half, the both sides shared the opening scores with Evan Sheridan pointing once again for Kells. Summerhill found daylight in the game and were a major threat from two pointers, scoring two in a row followed by a single point to move five points clear by the second half water break.
Kells rejuvenated themselves after the mid half break and a Gormley free was followed by a point from Tormey and another two Gormley frees to leave the minimum between the teams but Summerhill kicked on once again and hit their sixth two pointer of the game to close out the game. The sides will meet once again in two weeks in a venue to be confirmed.
