July 13, 2026

Kilmainhamwood's Brian Cassidy

Kilmainhamwood 1-8 Gaeil Colmcille 1-9

Kilmainhamwood welcomed Gaeil Colmcille to the Wood on a dry warm Sunday morning. This was a top of the table clash with both sides looking to secure top spot in the final round of the league. With that in mind it led to a tight tense affair with neither team able to establish a stronghold on the game.

Kilmainhamwood did muster up a few scores through Shane Townley and Brian Cassidy but this was kept in check by scores from the Kells men. Kilmainhamwood won a penalty and was duly converted by Shane Townley. Colmcilles scored a goal of their own after an uncharacteristic mixup from the Kilmainhamwood defence let the Kells men through for a major of their own. Killian Russell added a 2 pointer to narrowly keep Kilmainhamwood in front at the break.

Half time: Kilmainhamwood 1-6 Gaeil Colmcille 1-5

The second half continued in the same vein as the first with scores hard to come by and neither team giving an inch in the midfield battle. Shane Townley added a free to his tally to keep the Wood in front. Colmcilles kept the pressure on with tenacious tackling and a sheer hunger to win breaking ball. Despite this Cillian Burns added a further score to leave the Wood 2 up at the final water break. Kells worked hard to equalise and probed at the end of the game to create a scoring opportunity a duly converted the winning score.
