O'Mahony's suffered their first loss in the Div 2 FL on Saturday evening as a strong second-half comeback from Duleek Bellewstown saw the hosts edge a closely contested encounter in Duleek.
O’Mahony’s got off to a start and opened the scoring after two minutes when Aodhan Mallon split the posts from play. Duleek Bellewstown responded with a point of their own before Robbie Keelaghan kicked a two-point free following a foul on Eoghan Nugent in the seventh minute to give O'Mahony's a 0-3 to 0-1 advantage.
In the twelfth minute, the hosts found the net from play to move ahead, 1-1 to 0-3. O'Mahony's responded quickly. Keelaghan struck a two-point effort from play before Paddy Dillon added a point and Shane McCarthy kicked an two-pointer to swing momentum back in favour of Darren Clarke’s side. Aodhan Mallon extended the lead further with a two-point side-line. Late scores came from Dillon and a Keelaghan effort from outside the arc, given as a one-pointer when the keeper fisted it over the bar, left five in it at the break.

Two quick points reduced the Duleek Bellewstown deficit before Evan Coffey settled O'Mahony's with a well-taken score from play. However, Duleek Bellewstown continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Three scores in quick succession saw the hosts take the lead for the first time. Coffey kicked an impressive two-point free from the ground to leave the sides level again with six minutes remaining. On the cusp of full time, Duleek BVellewstown kicked a two-point free and followed it with a point to leave three between the sides.
Despite their efforts, O'Mahony's were unable to find a late response as Duleek Bellewstown held on for a three-point win. In addition to the scorers, O’Mahony’s were well served in defence by Niall McGrane, Sean Betson, Conor Brady, Darragh Murphy and Darragh Maguire, all of whom made interceptions and blocks at key stages in the match.
