On a beautiful Sunny evening Dunboyne opened in style and led by 0 05 to 0 00 after six minutes but only managed one further point before half time. In a good all round team performance the defense was superb. Shane Glynn won everything that came his way and was well supported by Conor Sheppard who drove forward with intent at every opportunity and set up Fiachra Ward for a tap in goal just before half time. Thomas O Reilly and Kyle Moran were prominent in the lead up to the goal. The half backline excelled in defence and attack and chipped in with five points. Once Tones got going after a slow start they were more clinical than the home side and had nine different scorers. The game saw the return from injury of Adrian Crawford and Cian O'Neill while Meath hurler Eoin Donegan made a fine contribution on his return from the county set up. 

The panel now head for Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta in Kilcar in Donegal for the weekend to defend their title won in dramatic fashion in Rathcairn last year. In an amazing comeback in the final they came from 14 points behind in the last quarter to defeat Donegal team An Tearmann. Bhulf Ton face An Rinn Waterford in their opening fixture on Saturday.
