A free flowing game of football saw Moynalvey get the better of Drumbaragh by four points in this PMC Physiotherapy Div. 9 football league round five game played at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on Monday evening May 25th.

Moynalvey 3-14
Drumbaragh 0-19

The win sees Moynalvey move into third place in the Div. 9 table after this hard fought win over Drumbaragh.

It was the visitors who registered on the score board first, a point from James Jordan after two minutes. Moynalvey opened their account in the sixth minute with a point from centre back David Regan off the outside of the boot with a low trajectory over the crossbar.

The visitors then went on to reel off four points including a two pointer from Tomas Doogan which hopped over Moynalvey ‘keeper Anthony Brien and the cross bar, Moynalvey’s response from Evan Drum, 0-5 to 0-2 with ten minutes played.

Drumbaragh’s John Morrissey and Moynalvey’s Ronan Thompson traded points, before great work by Conor Byrne forced a turnover setting up Barry Walsh to point, 0-6 to 0-4.

The men in maroon then reeled 1-5 without reply, the goal a speculative point attempt from Sean Duggan which looped in over the head of the Drumbaragh goal keeper, points from full back Charlie McCormack,  Paul Corcoran, Evan Drum and a brace from Sean Duggan, the second fisted over after fielding  a long side line kick in from Paul Corcoran, 1-9 to 0-6 with twenty five minutes played.

Drumbaragh added another pair of points to their tally to leave the half time score 1-9 to 0-8 in favour of the home side when referee Henri Clifford blew his half time whistle.

Drumbaragh started the second half in determined mood, the first four scores of the half going their way, levelling things up for just a second time, 1-9 to 0-12 with seven minutes of the second half gone.

Moynalvey broke that Drumbaragh scoring run with their second goal, no doubts about the finish this time as Sean Duggan struck for his second to bury low and hard to the Drumbaragh net, leaving three between the sides after 38 minutes.

Darragh Brennan and Jake Madden sent over Drumbaragh points either side of a Sean Duggan point for Moynalvey before a two pointed free from Madden drew the sides level for a third time 2-10 to 0-16.

Moynalvey’s Evan Drum pointed a free and another Sean Duggan point this one an effort blasted at goal which was tipped over the crossbar by the Drumbaragh ‘keeper; either side of a Tomas Doogan point for the visitors left it 2-12 to 0-17 after fifty minutes.

Moynalvey’s defining score in their victory came when the re-introduced Aaron McCabe palmed to the Drumbaragh net after a run from Barry Walsh set up McCabe when Walsh unselfishly passing across goal for McCabe to finish, giving Moynalvey a four point breathing space with seven minutes remaining.

That four point margin remained between the sides at full time with both sides adding a further brace of points to their tallies, Moynalvey’s points from Luke O’Halloran and an advanced mark from the game’s top scorer Sean Duggan, 3-14 to 0-19 the full time score.

A work man like performance from Moynalvey who had nine different scorers and a clean sheet. Best for the home side were the excellent top scoring Sean Duggan, Anthony Brien, Charlie McCormack, David Regan, Luke O’Halloran, Barry Walsh and Paul Corcoran.
