HL Div 1: Late Nolan strike earns Dunderry a share of the spoils

May 25, 2026

Dunderry's Evan Nolan

Dunderry 1-15 Trim 1-15

Dunderry and Trim shared the points in this Division 1 HL round 5 encounter played in Dunderry.

Trim opened the scoring from play and doubled thier score with a free shortly afterwards.  Evan Nolan pointed his first free after Jordan Martin was pulled down. Three more Nolan frees and two points from play for Trim had it level at four a piece. The reds tagged on three from play and one free. Darragh Fay showed superb stick work snuffing out another Trim attack and when he was taken down Nolan duly converted.  Another fine puc out from Fagan was gathered brilliantly by Adam Kelly and he split the posts. The town team were penalised for over carrying and when Evan dispatched it there was only a point in it at the interval 0-7 to 0-8.

Three frees on the trot for the home side were the result of good work rate from Nolan and county star Mark Leavy.

A positional switch from Trim which wasn't countered effectively saw the first goal of the evening go the visitors way. They followed this with a brace of frees and a point from play to lead by four.

Jordan Martin was fouled again and Nolan reduced the deficit with the resulting free and hit another straight after for over carrying.

Substitute Jack Darcy is always good for a goal and he thrilled the home crowd when he made himself available to Nolan who pinpointed the sliothar into his hand. He reached highest, spun on a sixpence and burried it. Now his team were up a point.

The lead was out to two when yet again Jordan Martin was stopped in his tracks. A point from the reds left the minimum in it.

Fagan went long down the middle from the restart and this time Cathal Barron gathered above even the Trim hurleys and he put Tommy Leavys men up two.

Two Trim frees and one from play had the townies up a point now.

The industrious Mark Leavy was pulled down yet again and after Evan Nolan converted the free the final whistle sounded and the score read 1-15 each.

Probably the fairest result on the nicest of a Sunday morning.

Dunderry: Jack Fagan, Darragh Fay, Rónán Brady, Ben Feeney, Conor Dempsey, Fionn Mc Hale, Rian Fay, Adam Kelly 0-1, William Tracey, Mark Leavy, Cathal Barron 0-1, Jordan Martin, Harry Crinion, Evan Nolan 0-13 frees, Jamie Duffy

Sub Jack Darcy 1-0 for Ben Feeney at half time.
