Killian Murphy gains possession for O'Mahony's during the Division 3 HL clash against Boardsmill

Boardsmill produced a second-half comeback to edge past O’Mahony’s by the narrowest of margins in sunny conditions in Boardsmill on Sunday morning in the Div 3 HL.

O’Mahony’s got off to a good start and opened the scoring through Dermot McKenna from play. Boardsmill responded quickly with a free to level matters, but O’Mahony’s quickly took control of the opening quarter.

Scores from Jack Walsh, Killian Murphy, Paddy Dillon and Darragh Connell helped O’Mahony’s build momentum and establish a four-point cushion at 0-5 to 0-1. Boardsmill stayed in touch through placed balls and sent over a 65 and a free 

Boardsmill reduced the gap to a single point midway through the half, O’Mahony’s pushed ahead again with a Walsh score. Lorcan McDermott found the net in the twenty-sixth minute to put some distance between the sides for the first time. Boardsmill answered with two quick points, but McDermott struck again from play to leave O’Mahony’s with a four point lead at the break.

Boardsmill got themselves back in contention almost immediately following the resumption with a goal. O’Mahony’s responded well however with two points from Walsh and a McDermott point to restore the four point lead.

Boardsmill chipped away with a series of points to remain within touching distance. Finn Malone added a score for O’Mahony’s and McDermott added another point to leave three in it in the final quarter.

With just under five minutes remaining, Boardsmill took the lead for the first time with their second goal. Murphy responded immediately to draw the sides level again before Connell edged O’Mahony’s ahead again. Boardsmill drew the sides level in injury time before clinching victory with the last score of the game from a free.
