FL Div 3: Dominant Dunderry down Michaels

May 21, 2026

St. Michaels Brian O'Reilly with Cathal Barron Dunderry during the Division 3 FL clash at Dunderry

St. Michaels 0-08, Dunderry 0-14

A dominant second half display from Dunderry secured two valuable points for the home side on Tuesday evening last as St. Michaels produced their best football in the opening half and probably one of their worst performances of the year in the second period as they never looked like collecting any of the points on offer.

The St. Michaels lads hit the ground running and went three points to nil in front with nine minutes on the clock with points from Shane McDonnell (2) and Gearóid O'Malley (1), their mid-field section led by Matthew Haplin lorded the middle third sending plenty of quality ball to their inside forwards. Dunderry on the other hand didn't trouble the scoreboard attendant until the end of the opening quarter with a point from play and they completed their opening half scoring with a fisted point and a two pointer from their full forward Adam Kelly.

Points from CJ Lynch, Halpin and McDonnell gave St. Michaels a 0-6 to 0-4 half time lead but that lead should have been much greater as they missed two excellent goal chances.

St. Michaels were convincingly outgunned for the entire second half as Dunderry took control of the middle of the park and restricted the visiting forwards to just two second half minors both from placed balls from McDonnell. The home side drew level on 36 minutes and fired over a further eight points including two excellent 2-pointers.
