Navan O’Mahony’s 1-10 Drumree 2-10 (AET)
Sixty minutes of camogie wasn’t enough to separate the sides in Dunganny on Sunday afternoon, with extra time required in the Div 2 CL final.
Isabel O’Connor got O’Mahony’s off to a quick start, pointing almost immediately from the throw-in. The sides exchanged a point each over the next ten minutes, with Drumree scoring in the fifth minute before Ailbhe Leahy edged O’Mahony’s ahead again.
Midway through the half, O’Connor pointed again to leave two between the sides. Throughout the half, O’Mahony’s had a number of missed opportunities for scores with some good clearances from the Drumree defence. Drumree pointed a free before Lizzie Brennan did likewise to leave two in it again. Drumree hit the final score of the half and O’Mahony’s led by a point at this stage.

Both sides struggled to score in the opening period of the second half, with Drumree getting level after six minutes. Two points in a sixty-second spell gave Drumree the lead for the first time.
O’Mahony’s first score of the second half came with an impressive score from Claire Mallon, who made a significant contribution when introduced to the play. The sides exchanged points with Drumree scoring a 45 and Brennan pointing from play.
The score of the match came through Leahy, who beat several Drumree defenders and rattled the net after a fifty-metre solo run to restore the advantage to O’Mahony’s. Five minutes later, Drumree had drawn level and had a number of chances to take the lead, denied by a great block from Anna Gardiner, good saves by netminder Mags Tomkins and a hook from Izzy Kinsella

Drumree 0-09
In the first period of extra time, Drumree found the net within a minute of the throw in and five minutes later, extended the lead to six. This was the biggest gap between the sides throughout the match and left O’Mahony’s with a gap to bridge in the last fifteen minutes.
A Brennan point reduced the gap but Drumree pointed again before half time to leave six in it at half time.
Under a lot of pressure from a Drumree side determined to hold onto their lead, O’Mahony’s needed scores in the second period of extra time. Points from Brennan and O’Connor reduced the gap to four with five minutes remaining.
Kinsella managed a point to make it a one score game but O’Mahony’s were unable to penetrate the tight Drumree defence for a goal and Drumree held on for the win.
