FL Div 8: Ultans secure both points in Carlanstown

St Ultans secured the both points with a victory over St Michaels in League Div 8 on Tuesday night in Carlanstown.

Ultans played towards the road goal in the first half and dominated possession for large periods but struggled to score shooting into the breeze and facing a resolute St Michaels defence. Tom Brennan scored three points from play in first quarter but these were cancelled out by three points from the home side. Luke Griffin scored on a raid from wing back that was quickly cancelled out by a 45. Aaron Smyth scored from a tight angle but Michaels closed out the half well to lead by two at the break.

Michaels started the half brightly with two points but points from Charlie O’Brien and Evan Moyles reduced the gap to two. St Michaels extended their lead but Adam Rogers scored from just inside the arc to start a comeback. He followed up with a free, before Tom Brennan landed a two pointer from play. Evan Moyles fielded a high ball and setup Brennan for another score. Two St Michaels points narrowed the gap back to one. Adam Rogers pointed from a free and followed up with another from play. Tom Brennan capped a fine performance with a well taken goal before Darren Mallon clipped one over for the final score of the match.
