Navan O’Mahony’s 2-11
Wolfe Tones 1-18
O’Mahony’s left too much for themselves to do, with a late recovery not quite enough in perfect conditions Kilberry on Monday evening.
Wolfe Tones were the first to score before Jack Bellamy kicked a very impressive two-point free to give O’Mahony’s the lead. Jack McConnell kicked a point from play to extend the lead, but this was this to be O’Mahony’s final score of the half. Wolfe Tones responded with a goal and kicked seven points to go in with an eight point lead at half time.
Wolfe Tones pushed further ahead in the first five minutes of the second half, kicking the first three scores. Substitute Sean Smyth got O’Mahony’s first score in over thirty minutes, with the hosts responding in turn. A Thomas Cully goal and a Jamie O’Reilly point reduced the gap but Wolfe Tones managed a two-pointer to keep themselves at arms length. McConnell found the net and Bellamy kicked another good two-pointer. Evan Coffey and Cormac Nugent added points, but Wolfe Tones kept the scoreboard ticking over and emerged as four point winners.
