Donaghmore Ashbourne 1-1-10 (15) St. Michael’s 3-1-13 (24)

Donaghmore Ashbourne’s second team suffered a third defeat of the league as they hosted St. Michael’s in the Division 3 clash in Ashbourne.

The visitors were quickest out of the blocks and registered 1-02 before Jack Doran opened the scoring for Donaghmore Ashbourne with a point on 10 minutes. The sides trades points at the end of the first quarter with Andrew Tormey converting a free for the Moors on 15 minutes.

Although the Carlanstown men extended their lead early in the second quarter with another goal and point the home side had the better of this period. Stephen Carton registered two points from play while Daniel Doherty raised a white and orange flag. Jack Dorna scored a great individual goal on 25 minutes, and Andrew Tormey pointed twice before the break to leave Donaghmore Ashbourne ahead by 1-09 to 2-05.

St. Michael’s regained the lead with a goal from their first attack of the second half and continued to keep the scoreboard ticking with points throughout the period to run out comfortable winners. Donaghmore only managed three points in this period with Andrew Tormey getting all three scores as he converted two frees and one from play.

Hopefully with a number of players coming back from injury Donaghmore Ashbourne can improve on results and move out of the relegation area of the  table.
