Leinster U20 HC: Impressive Royals book place in Tier 1

Meath qualified for a place in Tier 1 of the Leinster Under 20 hurling championship with this comfortable win over Carlow at Stamullen. The Royals overcame a stern test from Antrim in round 1.

Sean Corrigan’s men led 1-7 to 0-5 at the break. By the end of the first quarter the home side were 1-3 to 0-2 in front, Patrick Jordan with the goal. Kyle Ennis put the home side in complete control in the opening minute of the second half with goal number 2 and with five minutes remaining substitute Joey Christie rounded off a good hours work for Meath with their third goal.

Meath keeper Conor Cummins made sure that the visitors were not going raise any green flags with a couple of outstanding saves in the second half.

The reward for Meath is a place in Tier 1 Phase 2. The Royals are in Group 2 along with Dublin, Laois and Offaly and they will take on Dunlin in round 1 next Saturday April 4th at Parnell Park.
