Baconstown N.S. 4-3
Moynalty N.S. 1-8
Baconstown N.S. were crowned Boys Division 4 Football champions after this very exciting win over Moynalty.
Terry Gilsenan had Moynalty on the scoreboard first but Baconstown replied with two quick goals from Dara Cole and Larry Wall. Despite those setbacks Moynalty dominated possession for the remainder of half and were rewarded with points from Labhrí Pratt, Anna Kavanagh (2) and Lilly Carville. James Flynn registered Baconstown’s first point just before the break and they went to the half time huddle 2-1 to 0-5 in front.
Tiernan Gill increased that lead in the opening minutes of the second half with a third goal. Gilsenan raised another white flag for Moynalty before Baconstown’s fourth goal arrived courtesy of Flynn. A brace from Wall left the winners in control and despite conceding a late goal from Joey Lynch the boys in Maroon went on to record a four-point victory.
After the game James Brennan presented the Division 4 cup to joint captains Conor Kavanagh and Eoghan Enright.
