Loughcrew Gaels/Gaeil Colmcille 2-13  Trim 3-9

Credit to both teams, hurling under lights can be difficult but add monsoons in the second half and its next to impossible but this was a highly entertaining match from two very committed sides. 

Loughcrew Gaels/Gaeil Colmcille raced into a four point lead with points for Tom Shine, Paul Hennessey and Fergal Flynn in the opening ten minutes before Trim registered their first score and then on the 18th minute a well worked goal played out from the back and onto Tom Shine who rifled it into the net to have it 1:07 to 0:02 to the Gaels. Trim looked to be in bother but that sparked them into life they got their shape and finished out the first half scoring 1:03 without response leaving the margin down to two points.

Just as the second half commenced the monsoons started and 30 minutes of a slog was in store for both sides. A goal on the ninth minute had Trim into the lead for the first time in the match but minutes later that man Tom Shine popped again for the perfect pass to Darren O’Higgins to fire in their second goal and with that regain the lead. It was nip and tuck from then until the 24th minute when Trim got their third an opportunistic goal from the sixty-five and they followed that up with another point from a free leaving Trim two points up with three minutes to go. 

Credit to the Geals they didn’t panic, Sean Geraghty’s charges closed out the match with three points one each from the Shines and O’Higgins to edge this highly entertaining match by the narrowest of margins.
