O'Mahony's captain Lauren Patterson receives the Junior Camogie Championship cup from Kieran Devaney

Navan O’Mahony’s 3-16 Trim 0-07

Lizzie Brennan led the way with 2-11 as Navan O’Mahony’s second string won their second competitive championship with a win over Trim in the Junior A Final.

Trim were quick off the mark with a point within the opening thirty seconds before Mia McNally equalised with a point. Lizzie Brennan gave O’Mahony’s the lead in the fifth minute, which they would hold for the game after being set up by Katie Fitzgerald.

A long free from Lauren Patterson landed in the square and Brennan sent it to the net before adding another point seconds later. Trim added another score from a free to break the momentum for O’Mahony’s.

Patterson made a great catch and picked Ruth Stewart out with a pass before the latter converted. The remainder of the half saw Brennan, McNally and Fitzgerald all add to their earlier efforts and O’Mahony’s held a convincing lead at the break.

With the wind behind them in the second half, Trim started well in the second half and added three points in the opening ten minutes. Brennan pointed from play to settle her side into the half.

A few minutes later, a loose ball in the square saw plenty of hurleys swinging towards the goals. In the end, it was Aimee Shankee who got the final touch and sent it to the net to swing the momentum back towards Donal Hogan’s charges.

Brennan and Grace Gardiner added points, while Trim converted a free. A goal opportunity for Trim was denied by great play from Dayna Keogh and Patterson. The final score of the match came at the opposite end, when Brennan got her second green flag. O’Mahony’s now face promotion for the second year in a row,.
