Kiltale and Ratoath will have to do it all over again after this pulsating Meath Senior Hurling Championship final played at a wet Pairc Tailteann.

Having not conceded a goal on their way to the final the Jubilee Cup holders found themselves 1-2 to 0-1 down after three minutes, Ross Ryan fresh from his heroics last Sunday with Summerhill raising the games first green flag. Gavin McGowan replied instantly with Ratoath’s first goal but by the 7th minute Kiltale were in for their second major courtesy of Peter Durnin. By the end of the first quarter McMahon was in again for a second goal and the lead was down to two 2-8 to 2-6. John O’Donoghue’s men went to the dressing room 2-12 to 2-10 in front.

Ratoath were in front in the opening five minutes of the second half. Podge O’Hanrahan pointed before the impressive Gavin McGowan found the back of the Kiltale net. By the end of the 3rd quarter Ratoath were two in front before Kiltale staged a revival. Points from Mark O’Sullivan (2) and Jack Bannon put the former champions ahead with eight minutes remaining.

Cian Rogers put Ratoath back in control with his teams 4th goal as the clock hit 56 minutes and the cup seemed to be heading back to Ratoath. Jack Regan and Cian Kelly traded points as injury time approached to leave the scoreline 2-19 to 4-15. The drama wasn’t finished. With two minutes of injury time to be played Feraghal McCabe was on hand to finished to the net after a goalmouth scramble and Kiltale were one up. The holders showed their battling qualities and just before Mark Reilly’s final whistle Podge O’Hanrahan send over the equaliser to set up a mouthwatering replay.
