Kilbride's Mark Dempsey skips away from Gearoid O'Malley St. Michaels during the Meath IFC semi final at Pairc Tailteann

Kilbride 3-26 St. Michaels 0-13

Kilbride turned in one of the best displays seen at Pairc Tailteann in a long time with this defeat of St. Michaels in the Intermediate Football Championship semi final.

From the word go Anthony Moyles’ men were outstanding and their ball handling, skill, pace and ability to take scores were from the top drawer.

The winners created three goal chances in the opening five minutes but only took one, the outstanding Conor McWeeney showing no ill effects from an ACL injury picked up last year. St. Michaels were a match for the the Green and Red hoops in the opening half and a two pointer from Gearoid O’Malley left two points in it with seven minutes remaining. Timmy Farrell, David O’Leary (2 pointer) and a magnificent single from McWeeney pushed that lead out to 1-11 to 0-8 at the break. St. Michaels were unlucky in the opening 30 hitting the crossbar and the butt of the post.

Within two minutes of the restart that lead was out to 10 after an Adam Malone point and goal from the impressive Josh Harford. St. Michaels rallied and were rewarded with four points from the boot of O’Malley but from there on Kilbride gave an exhibition. Between the 10th and 25th minute they outscored the Carlanstown Kilbeg outfit 1-11 to 0-0, McWeeney with another wonderful goal, and set up a mouthwatering final date with Castletown.
