The weekend will be one to remember for the footballers of Ratoath. It started at the early throw in at Pairc Tailteann on Saturday and concluded on Sunday morning in Walterstown.
The clubs second string got the ball rolling at 12.00 on Saturday at Meath HQ when they became the first winners on the newly named All County Intermediate Football Championship with a comfortable win over St. Colmcilles. This game was over as a contest by half time. Corner forward Adam Ducie gave an exhibition and finished with five points before the short whistle. Dual star Domhnall Rogers also raised three white flags as Sean Ryan’s men went in at the break 0-11 to 0-1 in front. The Seasiders improved in the second half with full forward Charlie Bacon registering their five points. Ratoath added five to their first half tally, the highlight was a brace from substitute Oisin Cunningham as they eased to victory.
After the game County Board Chairman Jason Plunkett presented the cup to Luke Newe.
Supporters of the Blue and Gold were back at Pairc Tailteann three hours later to see their seniors qualify for the Keegan Cup final. In a cagey first half Paul Galvin’s men went in at the break 0-6 to 0-4 in front. A two pointer from the outstanding Jack Flynn early in the second half set the tone for the remainder as the winners outscored Skryne 0-16 to 0-7 and set up a repeat of the 2-23 final against Summerhill.
On Sunday morning the club’s third team defeated Duleek Bellewstown and take home the All County Junior Football Championship Division 2 title.
