Trim's Kyle Ennis with Brendan McKeon Kildalkey during the Meath SHC quarter final at Pairc Tailteann

Trim 1-21 Kildalkey 2-16

Trim set up a Senior Hurling Championship semi final meeting with holders Ratoath after this narrow win over Kildalkey at Pairc Tailteann.

The Town side dominated for long periods of the game but had to withstand a late late Kildalkey fightback to secure victory.

Declan Murray’s men led at the break 1-10 to 0-8. Kyle Ennis had three points on the board after 11 minutes for the winners but by the end of the first quarter Kildalkey were on level terms, 0-4 each, thanks to a hat trick from Paddy Conneely and one from Evan Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald then had a goal chance saved and from that clearance Trim went down the field and raised the games first green flag courtesy of Darragh Heffernan. Fitzgerald and Conneely replied for Nick Fitzgerald’s charges but fine efforts from Conor Quigley and James Murray gave Trim a five point cushion at the break.

Murray, David Murtagh, Ennis, Quigley and Mark Molloy all got on the score sheet in the opening 20 minutes of the second half to open up a 1-19 to 0-14 lead and Trim seemed to be on their way to a comfortable victory. Kildalkey had other ideas. Niall McNally pointed and with injury time approaching Brian O’Halloran and Nicky Potterton were in for goals to narrow the lead to two. Kyle Ennis and Conor Kearney traded points and despite camping in the Trim square Kildalkey couldn’t find a third goal to complete the come back.

Trim take on Ratoath in the semi final in what is a repeat of last years dramatic final.
