Castletown 2-11
Navan O'Mahonys 0-11
Castletown claimed their place in the IFC quarter final for the third year in a row with this six points win over Navan O'Mahonys on Friday evening in Simonstown.
The opening twenty minutes were a cagey affair and level at four points each until Declan Cribbin scored the opening goal of the game after a well worked move by Castletown. The opening four points for the eventual winners were two from Clubber MOTM Rian McConnell and one each from Daragh Kelly and Eoin Reid. O Mahoneys had a free to finish the first half scoring to leave it Castletown 1-4 Navan O'Mahonys 0-5.
Navan O'Mahonys scored the opening two points of the second period to level matters but a four minute spell where Castletown hit 1-2 a pointed free from Daragh Weldon and one from play for Darren Finney who again was instrumental in everything Castletown done and a goal from Killian Price to go five ahead.
A pointed free from Weldon and a point from play sent the eventual winners seven points clear and looking good for victory. But O'Mahonys had other ideas and a two pointers and two points closed the gap to three points with 53 minutes played. Castletown kicked on again and scored 3 points to seal the deal a McConnell free and two from play from Declan Cribbin and first half substitute Seamus Doherty.
Castletown now go through as group C winners into the knock out stages.
