Blackhall Gaels got their Intermediate Football Championship campaign off to a winning start with this two point win over Bective in ideal conditions at Lomans Park Trim. While both sides missed chances Bective were left to rue numerous wides in the second half.

Mark O’Brien got the scoreboard working for Bective. Blackhall replied through Tom Powderly, Daniel Carry and Luke Jennings to go 0-3 to 0-2 up before Cathal McConnell landed a two pointer for the men in Green. Jennings replied with a brace of frees before Paul Kelly raised the games first green flag from the penalty spot. Bective responded with two points from Con Smith and the Gaels went in at the break 1-5 to 0-6 in front.

William Farrelly’s men got a great start to the second half when Dermot Carty was on hand to finish to the Bective net. Points from Conor Duffy and Powderly along with a two pointer from Jennings had Blackhall in control 2-9 to 0-7 with ten minutes remaining.
