Summerhill 3-14 Dunboyne 2-14

Summerhill travelled to Dunboyne, in search of two much wanted points in the ninth round of the AFL Division 1.

Dunboyne bagged two goals in a row in the first ten minutes of the game,much to the horror of the large crowd of Summerhill supporters. This, however, didn't drop the heads of a lively Summerhill team. Eamonn McDonnell, Diarmuid McCabe and Bobby O'Shea each scored goals of their own between the eleventh and fifteenth minutes of the half. Both teams each scored a range of impressive points during the 2nd quarter of the game.

The second half saw an early Dunboyne black card, which greatly benefited the Summerhill side. Summerhill continued to tip over scores, taking advantage of a fourteen man Dunboyne side. The 'Hill survived a late Dunboyne surge of scores to win the game by a single goal.
