Dunderry 0-19 Navan O'Mahony's 0-11
Trim Road Navan was the venue on Friday night for the penultimate round of the Div 2 Hurling League. The winners moved two points clear at the top of the table with this comfortable win over last years IHC champions.
Evan Nolan opened proceedings with a free. O Mahonys equalised from play only for Nolan to pop his second free after Rónán Brady was taken down. A brace from play had the home team up by the minimum. Jamie Duffy picked out Nolan who drilled over from play. Mark Leavy pointed after intersecting the townsmen. Leavy turned provoider next linking in with Nolan who skimmed the crossbar with a rasper. His corner forward colleague got on the score sheet next after Liam Coogan gathered in style on the end line and sent the dream diagonal ball into space and Darcy made no mistake. A 65 and a free reduced the deficit to two approaching half time. Liam Dempsey, who is gaining momentum as every game goes by went back door to Duffy for a long ranger before Kelly capitalised on the resulting puc out misfortune to leave it 0-5 to 0-8 at the interval.
The same scorer started proceedings in the second half before Cathal Barron made the run for Duffy after the latter won the puc out. O Mahonys pointed from a free leaving the difference at four. Two beauties from Mark Leavy and one each from Rian Fay an Evan Nolan put day light between the sides for the first time. The blues pinned two back and were going for a third before Fago gathered comfortably, off loaded to Barron who in turn found Kelly who split the posts. Mark Leavy cancelled out a free with another cracker. Substitute Donagh Ó Laoire who had just handed his slip to the ref found the ball in his hand and made good his introduction to the action. Another O Mahonys free was next but Ó Laoire doubled his tally before Duffy rounded off his fine evenings work with his second from play. The home side finished the scoring with a point leaving the score reading 0-11 against 0-19.
