Dunshaughlin 2-13 Simonstown 2-14
The final Feis Cup Round encounter, Our Gourmet Food Parlour sponsored Dunshaughlin put in a solid performance against Simonstown but were narrowly defeated in the final moments, despite leading for much of the game.
The opening exchanges saw Sean O’Neill and Cian Gallogly register a point each before John McDonagh rattled the Simonstown net, giving Dunshaughlin an early boost. The full-forward Aaron murphy then marked his return in style, opening his scoring tally with a well-taken point from play.
Cian Gallogly made way for Adam Hanley midway through the first half, as Simonstown remained within touching distance. However, John McDonagh’s accuracy from placed balls extended the lead with two frees before the break.
Aaron Murphy also chipped in with a point from play before delivering a crucial two-pointer just before the halftime whistle.
Simonstown responded well, adding to their score with two-pointers of their own, but Dunshaughlin still held a narrow one-point lead at the break.

The second half saw James Traynor introduced for Alistair Doyle, and six minutes in, Murphy slotted over another well-taken free to maintain Dunshaughlin’s advantage. McDonagh followed up with another point before Adam Hanley struck for goal, putting daylight between the sides.
Sean O’Neill added a vital two-pointer, and Hanley capped off a his performance with another point to keep Dunshaughlin in control.
However, despite their best efforts, Dunshaughlin couldn’t withstand Simonstown’s late surge and ultimately fell short in the dying moments. It was a tough result, but there were plenty of positives to take forward.
Notably, Eoghan Leahy and Sean Clancy made their senior debuts, stepping up from last year’s minor squad and showing great promise for the future.
