Tailteann Cup: Missed chances prove costly for Brigids

Ivan Carroll St. Brigids

Nobber 0-15 St Brigids 2-09

St Brigids travelled to Nobber on Sunday morning to take on the hosts in the first round of the Tailteann Cup which was our first match to play under the new Gaa rules.

Despite it being early days both teams adapted to the new rules admirably and turned in an energetic display with the match moving from end to end swiftly making it a very entertaining game to watch.

Scores were traded fairly evenly for the first period with Dylan Briodys goal keeping us ahead on the board at the break 1-06 to Nobbers 0-07.

A raft of missed chances by us in the second period including a penalty won by adult debutant Ivan Smith proved costly in the end as despite us being three points up following Dylan Briodys second major in the fiftyeighth minute Nobber scored a point which was followed by a two pointer to leave us coming away with a share of the spoils.

Second round of the Cup is next Sunday morning with a home clash versus Carnaross.
