IFC quarter final: Hill well on top in Walterstown

September 23, 2024

Meath Hill's Gary Breslin

Meath Hill 3-16 Kilbride 2-9

Meath Hill and Kilbride met in splendid conditions on Saturday in front of a packed crowd.

Meath Hill’s fans were treated to a feast of entertaining football from the start. Gary Breslin was outstanding from start to finish as he was often the one who put the final touches to a lot of Meath Hill’s blistering attacks.

Meath Hill’s potent and attacking brand of football was rewarded early on when Ryan Owens stole a march on the Kilbride defence and dispatched the ball to the net to give Meath Hill a commanding early lead. Gary Breslin and Sheehy would add further scores before the two men would work in tandem to deliver a knock-out punch to Kilbride’s hopes of victory; a perfectly flighted pass left the Kilbride defence at sixes at sevens allowing Breslin to coolly dispatch the ball to the bottom corner.

Kilbride would rally in the second half and would find the Meath Hill net twice before Dominic Yorke would get his revenge back after he converted from the penalty spot after Jamie Slavin had been felled in the box. This ended the game as a competitive affair.

Meath Hill look forward to a semi-final against Ballivor in two weeks’ time.
