Drumree 0-22 Donaghmore/Ashbourne 0-11

Drumree topped Group A of the Intermediate Hurling Championship and booked their place in the last four with this comfortable win over Donaghmore Ashbourne at Pairc Tailteann.

Donaghmore were reduced to 14 when referee Martin Dawson showed midfielder Oisín Daly a red card in the early stages of the first half.

Playing with the wind into the hospital end the winners dominated large parts of the opening half. Luke Andrews got the scoreboard working for Donaghmore Ashbourne but by the 15th minute Drumree were 0-8 to 0-4 in front with points from Sean Kilcoyne (2), David Reilly (2), the impressive Cathal McCormack (2), Josh Wall and James Reilly. Frank Bowles charges reeled off five points in a row between the 19th and 27th minute to take a 0-14 to 0-5 lead to the dressing room.

Ashbourne made a good start to the second half with two quick points from David Carey and Colm O Mealoid but another brace from Reilly and McCormack extinguished any idea of a ‘Moors’ comeback. McCormack, Kilcoyne and Wall kept the scoreboard ticking for the men in Red and White and they went on to record a double points victory.

Drumree await the winners Boardsmill and Donaghmore Ashbourne in the semi final.
