Kildalkey 0-13 Ratoath 2-5

Kildalkey's Junior team kickstarted the weekends games for the club up in Kiltale against a strong Ratoath team and after a strong finish came away with a 2 point win.

Playing with the wind in the first half the village led 0-7 to 1-2 but hit home 6 wides and were hoping it wouldn’t prove costly as Ratoath were going to have the wind on their backs for the second half.

Scores were hard to come by in this game with both defences on top Traynor and Geoeghan scored for Kildalkey to keep in touch in but a Ratoath goal put them in the driving seat and they led 2-5 to 0-9 with 10 minutes left.

But the men in blue dug deep and Robbie Johnston who was introduced had a big impact and scored a point and won a vital free as they equalised from Geoeghan 

Full forward Sean Heavey used all his experience to hit the last 2 points to give his team a 2 point lead but Ratoath came down the field looking for a goal to win it and with time almost up and a Ratoath player found himself in front of the goals with the ball in his hand about 30 yards out but a brilliant diving block from Enda Fitzgerald saved the day and Kildalkey held on for the win in a really tough tight game.

Stalwarts Conor Flynn, Enda Fitzgerald, Martin Doran and Sean Heavey were all excellent while the younger lads worked brilliantly with them Conor Lyons, Ross Thompson, Liam Carroll, Tom McGee, Robbie Johnston all had good outings and the Browne brothers and Evan Geoeghegan worked very hard to give their team the win for a great start.
