Kildalkey's Matty Cully

Killyon was the venue for Saturday evening’s IHC Round 2 game v Boardsmill and after an exciting game where both teams gave their all it was Boardsmill who came away with the 2 points after a 0-17 to 0-16 win.

This game was tight throughout with little to separate the teams and was level on a number of times.

Boardsmill led at halftime by 0-9 to 0-8.

Ross Flynn hit 2 good points for Kildalkey Mattie Cully with 3 (2f) Kevin McKeon Ryan Byas and Ben Rickard the other scorers for the village.

Byas with another long range point starting the scoring in the second half Cully from 2 frees and Stephan Murray kept them ticking but Boardsmill struck back Alex Rickard surged forward from wing back to hit a super point and Jamie kavanaghs on the opposite wing was just as good and important but indiscipline gave Boardsmill frees and although they missed 2 they also hit 3 to keep them in touch.

Mattie Cully hit Kildalkey’s last 2 scores from a free and a 65 and the game was heading for a draw with time ticking down but Boardsmill got the lead after a scramble and it broke to them Kildalkey introduced Podger Geoghegan then in the last few minutes and was unfortunate not to get on the end of a Ross Flynn shot that flew accross the face of the goals but that was the last play and boardsmill held on for a one point win in what was an entertaining game.
