Navan O’Mahony’s 1-14 Gaeil Colmcille 0-15

Navan O’Mahony’s hung on in the end to make it two from two in the Meath IHC. The game was played in Kilskyre’s impressive club grounds.

Gaeil Colmcille took an early lead when they converted a free in the second minute. Within thirty seconds, Jack Walsh had pointed from play to leave the sides level before Finn Malone took an impressive shot from the corner to put O’Mahony’s ahead.

After ten minutes, Gaeil Colmcille had reclaimed the lead with two pointed frees until Sam Formosa equalised in the thirteenth minute. Gaeil Colmcille looked to be progressing ahead midway through the half when they found the net, only for a square ball to be given and a free out. They took the lead with a free and John Foley denied them another goal scoring opportunity in the twentieth minute.

The sides exchanged points with Keyes pointing a free and Gaeil Colmcille were ahead approaching half time. A brilliant play from Mark Usher to Jack Flynn resulted in a pass to Sam Formosa who rattled the net to give O’Mahony’s a two point lead. The Kells side added another to leave the minimum between the sides at half time.
