Meath GAA pay tribute to the late Pat Sheils and '54 hero Tom O'Brien

July 26, 2024

The late Tom'Brien and Pat Sheils

With deep sadness, we inform you of the recent passing of two esteemed members of our Meath GAA community.

Firstly, we regret to announce the death of Pat Sheils of Lobinstown. Pat was a dedicated sponsor of our football league, Division 3, through his business, P.S. Supplies Doors & Floors. His contributions and support have been invaluable to the league and our community.

Additionally, we mourn the loss of Tom O'Brien of Navan, who passed away recently. Tomás was a cherished member of the 1954 Meath All-Ireland Final team, where he earned his place in history as a medal winner. His legacy and commitment to Meath GAA will always be remembered. Tom won an All Ireland Junior in 1952 and two years later starred a midfield in the win over Kerry. Tom was guest of honour in the 2001 Meath SFC final between Dunshaughlin and Skryne.

On behalf of Meath GAA, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of Pat Sheils and Tom O'Brien during this difficult time. They will be deeply missed by all who knew them.

We ask that clubs and members take a moment to remember Pat and Tom, reflecting on their contributions and the impact they had on our community.
