Carnaross 3-15 Dunboyne 0-05

Carnaross travelled up the M3 to struggling Dunboyne for the final league match of the year. It was the North Meath men who overpowered their opponents finishing the final four league games unbeaten.

Dunboyne began with the wind advantage but Carnaross raced into a 6 point lead after only 6 minutes. John Reilly, Dillon Fox and braces from Cormac Yore and Darragh O’Reilly established this healthy lead. Dunboyne eventually settled with 3 unanswered scores utilising the strong elements. Midfielder Mosai Plunkett and full forward Dillon Fox stopped the rot with fine scores before Dunboyne concluded their first half scoring on 28 minutes. The final act of the half saw the rampant Dillon Fox overturn possession to find the back of the net.

The second half saw Dunboyne struggle against the elements only troubling the scoreboard once. Carnaross added a further 2-07 after all the heavy lifting was done in the first period. Dillon Fox and Darragh O’Reilly continued to terrorize the men in black and amber with four second half points between them. Charlie Murphy helped himself to 1-2 with the pick of the scores coming from distance as he lobbed the walkabout keeper. The final score of the game was a well worked team goal with Cian O'Reilly cooly finishing to the back of the net after a swift counter attack.

The win wasn't enough to secure a promotion semi final berth but it was a successful league campaign overall.

All attention now turns to our first round encounter with Clonard in the first round of the championship in August.
