At the second time of asking Ratoath claimed the Allianz Meath Cumann na mBunscol Division 1 hurling title at the expense of Kilmessan at Lomans Park. They lost out to Trim in last years final. PHOTOS

Scores were at a premium and the standard of hurling was from the top drawer as the winners went in at the break 0-4 to 0-2 in front. The impressive Cian Flanagan hit three points and his midfield partner Connor Doyle one while Kilmessan relied on a brace of pointed frees from Michael Gallagher.

Gallagher narrowed the lead to the minimum with the first point of the second half. Flanagan sent over two frees to push their lead out to three before they were rocked with a goal from Tommy Clynch. Gallagher again and sub Joshua Potter put Ratoath in front again before Danny Reilly sent over and the lead was back to one. The leveller Kilmessan required never arrived and Ratoath were crowned champions for the first time.

After the game joint captains Cian Flanagan and Connor Doyle were presented with the Division 1 hurling cup.
